" These Women Need To Wiggle Their Way Back To Equality "

Well, as I was sitting at home scrolling through YouTube and
the Wiggle Music Video popped up, boy was it a surprise to see how these
women portray themselves to society. Imagine the power Jason Derulo feels
having all those underdressed women in his bed. The song says,“ You know what to do with that
big fat butt… WIGGLE WIGGLE WIGGLE.” Do you think those girls listened to him
when he told them what to do? Of course they did because the male figure in
this video is the patriarchal figure and dominates over the females. At
the beginning of the video, Jason is sitting up his bed with about eight
different girls passed out laying all over him. The stereotypical “slutty” women figure is definitely brought to
the table in this video. Common Sense media said, “ Parents need to know
that “ Wiggle (feat. Snoop Dogg)” is a silly, seductive, and suggestive pop/rap
song by Jason Derulo that instructs girls to “wiggle” that big fat butt.
Although the song is more playful than sexually aggressive, it still objectifies
women and contains graphic innuendos. The music video features plenty of
bedroom scenes and lots of shaking booties.” Why do you think women find the
need to portray themselves in such an inappropriate manner? I think they have
the urge and need to be good enough for certain men and want to feel superior
towards men. As the song says, “If I
take pictures while you do your dance, I can make you famous on instagram.” So,
only when these women are doing their “dance” meaning wiggling and shaking
their butts, that’s the way, they’re going to get famous on social media. What
kind of message is that sending out to young teens? Displaying your body in that way will get you noticed? SHAME!! Coming back to the stereotypes shown in
this video, we see a couple sluts, a few whores and a ton of low confidence
women. An example of the girls in this video portraying themselves in such ways
is what they are wearing… if they are even wearing anything at all. Little
booty shorts, half ass out and bikini tops; talk about revealing!! These women
think that this is how they have to dress to get men’s attention. Notice Snoop
Dogg using binoculars to get a closer look at the women’s bottom half? He
didn’t even need those seeing as the girls were dancing right up on him half of
the video. As I was saying before, body parts that shouldn’t be shown were
definitely showing. These women are selling themselves as pleasure figures in
this video…The women in this video are thinking,“ Here, stare at me shaking my butt and dancing all around in
barely any clothes. Will you like me better that way?” What a great message
these girls are sending out to society and teenage girls. Sell yourself short
and act like a fool and boys will be all over you…WRONG!!! Respect yourself and
act normally and we could get this awful name off our back. Will women ever be
the matriarchal figure in anything? Maybe it doesn’t have to be a
competition between men and women and maybe it could be equal for once.
Jennifer Lopez’s music video I Luh Ya Papi is the total opposite. The
man at the beginning of the music video is talking about a location to shoot
her next music video and he gives her a few options. The lady beside her says,
“ If she was a guy, we wouldn’t be having this conversation at all.” The other
woman says, “ No seriously because if she was a dude they would seriously have
her up in a mansion with all these half naked girls or maybe even in a yacht.”
These women then talk about why men always objectify the women and maybe for
once the women should objectify the men. Why does it have to be this way? Why
cant there be a video where men and women are both equal? Jason seems to be controlling
all these women the whole video. He takes on the subject by the way he’s
acting towards the women. When he says
wiggle wiggle wiggle, the women start whistling to his beat and shrugging their
shoulders as if he ordered them to do so. In the song it says,” Tired of
working that 9 to 5? Oh baby let me come and change your life.” All he’s saying
is, are you tired of working an actual professional job? Why don’t you come and
dance for me all day long, it’ll be much more fun. The ice sculpture of the
girl’s bottom and liquor flowing through the crack with a man at the bottom
drinking it… what’s next? Let’s get these women to wiggle their way back to
equality.
